About the Comox Valley Business Network

We currently meet every Wednesday from 7:30-8:30am at Bayside Cafe, across from Driftwood Mall.

The membership represents non-competing Valley businesses that range from individual entrepreneurial ventures and small businesses to franchisees. The group is largely co-operative, referring group members to outside potential customers, as well as using one another’s products and services within the group. The success and effectiveness of any referral group is largely dependent on the active participation of all its members, therefore regular and consistent attendance at our weekly meetings is a key responsibility. Prospective members are invited to attend 2 FREE meetings to try out the group.

Membership fees are $120 per year, and are due on the anniversary of the member’s joining of the group. Membership fees are used throughout the year for group promotion, events, fundraisers and to sponsor local charities. Annually, the CVBN chooses a local charity or community group to whom the group will contribute financial support throughout the year. Throughout the year, the CVBN organizes a number of fun events for the group members to enjoy, including a mixer, a Christmas party and a summer BBQ.

To join a dynamic, fun, and intimate networking group in the Comox Valley check the Member Directory to ensure there are no competing businesses, then connect with any CVBN member, or contact the current president – Catherine Reid – president@cvbn.ca.

CVBN donates $1K to CVTS and Dawn2Dawn

The members of the Comox Valley Business Network were delighted to contribute financially to both the Comox Valley Transition Society and Dawn to Dawn Action Against Homelessness Society. Both these organisations do essential work in our community and we are confident that the funds will be put to good use.

The CVBN is a great group, offering a unique opportunity to receive business referrals, strategic insights and group mentoring all in one place, and I find the balance between these elements refreshing and engaging.  We emphasize being supportive and collaborative, building strong relationships between our members in the belief that this will lead organically to referrals and business growth for all of our members. However, we focus on more than just referrals because we believe the group can also be a great resource to provide the emotional support, insights, feedback and accountability we all need to overcome challenges, to set big goals and find ways to achieve them.

Working in isolation as a small business owner, I relish our weekly meetings as a chance to toss around ideas on marketing, business management, etc.
Additionally, the things I’ve learned from other members’ presentations have enriched my life immeasurably.
The small size of this group allows for deep connections and the building of trust.

As an original member, I have seen the long term benefits of this wonderful business network. Through the years, I have established many wonderful business relationships based on common interests, diversity of personalities and willingness to share ideas. We have encouraged each other, supported local charities and established a core of long term members. It is an great opportunity I will not be giving up any time soon.
